All these "I'm not scared" and "you can't stop this city" declarations, as if the threat we face comes from terrorists, not a pandemic. Like Cold Warriors who insisted al Qaeda must've had state sponsors, they're so used to the old threat that they're misunderstanding a new one.

I've noticed this too; seems people are so accustomed to meme warfare that they can't help but view the virus as some kind of psy-op.https://twitter.com/G_S_Bhogal/status/1236711372362260480 …

A pathogen is not a terrorist; it gains no benefit from a population being too afraid of it. On the contrary, paranoia and xenophobia – qualities that in normal conditions we’d list among our worst – are in fact our best safeguards against viruses, which is why we have them.

I can't believe people are impressed by that guy. But some evidently are, and misunderstand this crisis as a result (among other things). Not everything is media, memes, and human conspiracies. Nature plays a role too.

This is the same combination of anxiety and hubris that leads to all the usual conspiracy theories that make the world order explainable rather than chaotic, but the pathological underpinnings are just so much more distinct in the face of global force of nature like a pandemic.
