1) Be aware of your own biases. 2) Separate your identity from your ideology. 3) Believe only what you must believe and nothing more. 4) Consume a variety of news sources. 5) Read arguments against your position. 6) If you must be biased, be biased against your own assumptions.

I believe in universal healthcare, but I think it's important to highlight the fact that people who think like me are not immune to the confirmation bias I mentioned.

Replace "proves" in those statements with "demonstrates" and it can all be true. It's just that many can be too liberal with what the word "prove" means.

Yes. And specifically, it provides a data point for *my* political and moral beliefs, and not Spencer's. Ideally he will now adopt all of my beliefs.
