When you say contrary to the tenets of leftism are you saying that any argument that leftists are “pro power structures of the status quo” is false or that leftists that are supporting the power structures of the status quo are going against the tenets or their ideology?
-
The latter. Recall that leftism originates as the radical and egalitarian wing of politics. The central paradox of leftism in the modern age is that it must choose between two oxymorons: a "pro-equality" hierarchy or pro-hierarchy "equality". Most choose the former.

The problem with Status Quo is that they were always a bloody awful band and in any progressive society we should openly welcome anyone who wishes to censor them.pic.twitter.com/TSBa3A9qkR

I consider censorship to be the withholding of information. With respect to the specific information that is being withheld there is power imbalance but that can occur in relationships where the withholder is relatively disempowered.

I don't think censorship goes against leftism as leftism is paternalistic. Implicit assumption is that a central authority is arbiter of people's best interests. Similarly, implicit in censorship is the notion that the censor is better placed to act on the info being withheld.
