I mean you can define terms however you want for your usage, but you ignored 2. If you do trust someone, then clearly they can betray you, even by your strict definition, and it's absolutely correct to describe it as them betraying you.

The point is that in such a case it is not *really* the person who is betraying you; the real culprit is your expectations, regardless of what *you* choose to see it as.

It *is* *really* the person who is betraying you, as I've said. Just saying it's not isn't helpful. If you trust someone, and they betray that trust, then they betrayed you. Even if it's also true to make the boring observation that "your expectations betrayed you."

And even if you don't trust them, they can betray you. Let's say your spouse cheats on you - they betrayed you, the marriage etc. even if you had learned to not trust them beforehand.

Yeah terms generally have broad scopes of acceptable usage and slightly different contexts and this is a good example. One can betray your trust, the institution of marriage, their vows, etc. There are many ways to look at it; "betrayal of your expectations" is yet another.

And they're all true in different ways. Saying "X isn't true, but Y is" isn't very meaningful when they're both clearly true.

If it’s Gurwinder who has blocked you, you might want to look at your personally disparaging statements (“boring” etc).

I blocked him because I've found that over the past few years he's consistently nitpicked my tweets seemingly in an attempt to dunk on me and look clever. Interacting with him has almost always consisted of me having to defend myself against trivial objections.

Understand. I block anyone who calls me names and his personal animus towards you was apparent.
