Is the rape really used to control and humiliate the partner, or is physical strength used to control the partner so that sex can be obtained from her against her will, resulting in her feeling humiliated? I'd bet the latter is *far* more often the case than the former.

Nonsexual sadism is rare in rapists. Paraphilic sadism is not. For many rapists who rape to dominate their victim, the domination is a means to sexual fulfilment. So, no, power and sex are not mutually exclusive, but in rape cases power is almost always subordinated to sex.
