I’m skeptical of this not just because I know what the media can be like, but because it’s so ridiculously lurid. The world can’t be this bizarre can it? These people sound like Batman villains.

I also read the piece with great skepticism, given not only the sensationalism you alluded to, but also the fact that it's Vox. The piece makes a few generalisations and simplifications, and is obviously skewed to the left, but it seems to get the most unbelievable facts right.

Tbf, it is Vox, so maybe take it with a pinch of salt.

Note also how the Marxist variant of accelerationism is, while mentioned, not at all critiqued.

Intetesting. I think I remember the stuff about Land in the guardian. Acceleration sounds like futurism so the connection with the far right makes sense I guess The house in Leamington is probably Crowley’s parents’ fwiw

Free speech or censorship? Can't have it both ways: "Barring federal regulations weakening the encryption protections for these platforms [...] it may not be possible to effectively keep tabs on what accelerationists are saying to each other and what they’re planning."

This is the direct result of sites like Daily Stormer and 8chan being shut down. Without an open forum, the extreme right went underground. Far better to keep the open forums up and monitor them for potential violent activity. Honeypots work. Shutting down hate speech doesn't.
