I say "there is no free will but it is beneficial to have this illusion and to act as through it is real". They say: "Pearl says there is free will" Not much different

What interests me here is that you replace "God" (that is, the "act as if it existed" argument) with "free will". Any chance to elaborate why?

Judea's argument seems to be very different from Pascal's Wager. Judea's advice is a strategy to improve behaviour in this life, Pascal's is a game-theoretic gambit to improve chances of avoiding hell and entering paradise.
