Not sure this analogy works particularly well. Day and night are well defined. Day is the period between sunrise and sunset. Night is the converse. Sunrise and Sunset can be quite precisely calculated - for me sunset will be 8:46pm today. There is a line, admittedly not magical.

Imagine a timeline stretching from conception to birth. At what point on this timeline does a fetus become a person? No idea. There is line somewhere, we just don't know where it is. Very much not night and day.
