Interesting how free market Trumpists suddenly become regulationists when the free market doesn’t do what they want. This is part of a wider problem in politics: people often base their principles not on what they believe to be right, but on what benefits their tribe.pic.twitter.com/uX2wG9IOgg

They're "free market" in the same way that Trump is a devout Christian.

This might be issue number 1. It's ubiquitous and I've certainly been guilty. It's interesting that there used to be far more fear of being called out as a hypocrite on the left than there is now. My leftist friends completely shut down at the suggestion.

We don't have a free market. These companies are entangled with governments in many ways already. I believe defending the spirit of free speech is as important as defending free market principles, even if these two things clash at the scale big tech operates, in the real world.

a defining characteristic of the right seems to be an inability (or unwillingness) to consider any negative outcomes that don’t effect them directly. Perhaps the left does the opposite to a fault.

Just as interesting how lefties suddenly become extreme libertarians and OK with blacklisting when it happens to their enemies. Also, no one thinks utilities should be able to reject customers based on their politics. Arguably, Big Tech companies have become utilities.

"Right" is just what benefits the largest of tribes. Seeking self profit keeps people honest.

That came out sort of awkward: by largest of tribes I meant the universe
