It's silly to see people characterize it as "bickering," and say they should stop because they're on "the same side." Rubin is a right wing , tokenized pundit, and Claire runs a publication for social commentary. This is all pretty much how things should go.
Someone needs to point out his over the top criticism of YouTube also. Everytime he loses subscribers or finds out about some glitch, he assumes YouTube is actively trying to stop people from viewing his videos.
If the report by @Project_Veritas is accurate, I have to change my position here, @RubinReport was right all along in pointing out the political bias of @Google and @YouTube
I disagree that Rubin needed to be called out. The critique was extremely weak, the vitriol aimed at him was unnecessary and profuse and his sins were massively exaggerated. Taking into account how instrumental Rubin was in getting the ball rolling, this whole thing is a travesty
Seemed like a balanced response to me. I haven't read the original quillette article yet so I can't comment on that.
It has?
Exactly. Rubin (Koch $$$) and Weinstein (Thiel $$$) moved aggressively to silence the free press, with a thin "but we just care about the truth" cover. The original article was flawed, but it baited their authoritarian move. Now you *know* there's something here, keep digging...
This echos my sentiments exactly. It's difficult to receive criticism from those who you see as allies and friends, however it is best coming from them in the end, because it's done in good faith, with an intent to better you
While I share the opinion that Dave could be more hard with rightwingers, the article IS bad. It raised hypothesis that the data did not support (Tim pool did a nice video about it). The claim that identitarians are the new left seems naive at best, even more so without evidence.
Uri's claim that Rubin is unidirectionally tolerant is not correct. He failed to take into account the full range of extremes. Rubin is not tolerant of extreme right like Spencer nor extreme left like Sarsour. He is tolerant of moderate right (Owens) and left (Christakis) alike.
Uri's claim is correct actually, and Stefan Molyneux is basically as bad as Richard Spencer (if not worse) and he had a very friendly interview with Dave Rubin, and Rubin has actually expressed interest in interviewing Richard Spencer, so LOL @ upic.twitter.com/Y1n2F2QLZf
