Strong ideas positively delight in debate; weak ones avoid it at all costs. Use that as a guide when you assess what is likely true or false. Do the people who promote the ideas want to debate, try to debate, thrive in debate? Or do they silence and intimidate others?

What I'm saying is that bad ideas flourish just as well as good ideas, if not better, in debate and as such there are legitimate reasons to deny a platform or equal standing to people or ideologies beyond "Oh you're just scared they'll beat you"
-
The problem with this line of thinking is that it results in a completely arbitrary definition of good idea and bad idea. If you won't judge the worth of an idea by how well it can be defended, then the ideas you choose to defend are based on nothing but whim.

Or are you trying to say that some debates are just not worth having because one side has conclusively won (e.g. whether the earth is flat). I hope this is what you are arguing, but if you are, it doesn't actually contradict Bo's point.

That's not a belief of mine, and that's not what I was saying It also does contradict his point, because if I refused to have a debate with a flat earther, then according to him, I'm scared of their ideology being stronger than mine, so I'm suppressing it But that's immaterial

No. In fact, please point out where what I said gave you that opinion. I eagerly await your reply....
