The picture you posted is purely descriptive. No make-up, no photoshop, no flash pose. It's purposed to illustrate, not idealise.

The article linked to is a women's mag. They added those to the heavily photo-laden article, which you apparently cropped to make look more risqué than it is - the full pic shows her strapless dress. Also, so what if she uses imagery/beauty to engage her audience?

The article is a vapid juxtaposition of political platitudes and "slay queen!" photos, only proving my point further. I didn't crop the picture to make it look more risque; I cropped it to be centred on her face. Using your beauty to convince people of your worldview is shitty.

is what she’s saying wrong? I’d agree with her message. Also I don’t see any issue with the image

What she says may have some merit to it, but it makes one wonder whether a person is sincere in their political views when they accompany them with self-glorifying glam pics.

The next time she says something that isn’t self serving and hypocritical will be the first time.

Young women enjoy presenting themselves as beautiful and have done since the dawn of time. While it is a different personal image to that of a bespectacled professor, the use and refinement of a personal image is used by most people from pop stars to real estate agents.

This type of signalling has been happening for a very long time, e.g. politicians perfect family photos. Ultimately it's the X-factorisation of politics, and i view that's as generally bad for substance.

Makes some sense. Contrarianism is used by many today as a personality aesthetic.
