Wow, this is about the least robust statistical analysis (if you can even call it that) that I have ever seen. You can’t seriously think that this data tells you anything useful about whether or not illegal immigrants increase crime, all else equal.

Any sociological study of this scale is bound to be flawed. But since it's the only study of its kind, in a topic that contains very little research of any robustness whatsoever, beggars can't really be choosers.

Not surprised . There maybe some bias in the sample. Actually in my opinion the negative sign of correlation is spurious as higher immigration to certain areas probably reflects a strong regional economy which we know is negatively related to crime .

The undocumented population could still be disproportionately violent, or contain extremely dangerous elements. This wouldn’t necessarily be reflected in the national crime rate, which looks at our society as a whole.
