I regard idealism and materialism as opposites. Where materialism is an obsessive attachment to things, idealism is an obsessive attachment to ideas.

I’ll vote idealism, as I find that the best way to include Market Capitalism—and how it leads to unregulated forms of materialism, which in turn, is root for most of the suffering we see in the world today.
