"I regret that I so quickly dismissed James Damore initially. I don’t believe he’s intentionally sexist. I just think he’s not listening." @emjsmith argues for more people to engage and debate opinions they don't share.http://read.medium.com/U5dizhf

I think both sides are not listening. There is both a biological and social construction aspect to this. And it is true that Damore doesn't know what its like to be a woman in tech, and neither do I (I'm a male in tech). I do know what its like to feel like a social outsider tho

...and in that sense I can sympathize with feeling like coding is a kind of boys club. It's probably true that my competence would be more easily questioned if I were female, esp if I were very feminine-presenting.

Wait... Damore had arguments? I’ll have to reread that memo again to search for them.

Pray tell, what do you think his arguments are? (To be clear, I did read the memo, and I do feel the article addresses them enough)
-
He simply sums up the psychological research on differences in traits and career choices between men and women. The overall question he asks is if we would actually do women a disservice by forcing them into IT against their interest. But you read the memo, so you knew that.
