The article relates a number of interesting discoveries, such as the amygdala (the "fear centre of the brain") being larger in conservatives than liberals. Of course, none of this is conclusive, but, taken together, it builds an interesting picture that's worth exploring further.

A study at, I think, Imperial College also found a strong correlation between psychedelic use and progressive views. People who took one dose of psilocybin saw a dramatic decrease across various measures of authoritarian thinking. Need to dig this up.

How do liberal safe spaces fit into this though? I would say that the alt-right / liberal SJW axis inverts this dichotomy. Social justice orthodoxy may be a form of conservatism now, which people retreat to because of fear of Trump and what he represents.

Although its probably more complicated, with liberal/conservative ideologies playing into different kinds of fears. Also, if conservatism is based on fear response, kinda makes the liberal strategy of attacking and demonizing them seem pretty irrational, right?
