While we’re doling out generic blame, perhaps we should take a look in the mirror, at a political system that has raised the costs of partisan defection so high that everyone caught in its gravity becomes a hypocrite on one issue or another... It’s far deeper than a Trump issue.

Maybe. But right now I'm talking about Trump, and I reserve the right to single out individual acts of greed and idiocy without having to always scale up my criticism to levels of abstraction that are so general that they are pointless.

Except that attitude merely perpetuates the issues by keeping focus upon symptoms, rather than underlying causes. It’s just so much venting. You think *your* criticism of Trump is going to move the needle? We don’t have enough minds caught within that game?

I'm not interested in moving the needle. I'm interested in telling the truth as I see it. And the truth as I see it is, people should be held accountable for their actions. By shifting the blame for human behaviour to underlying causes, you are removing the role of agency.
