While we’re doling out generic blame, perhaps we should take a look in the mirror, at a political system that has raised the costs of partisan defection so high that everyone caught in its gravity becomes a hypocrite on one issue or another... It’s far deeper than a Trump issue.

Except that attitude merely perpetuates the issues by keeping focus upon symptoms, rather than underlying causes. It’s just so much venting. You think *your* criticism of Trump is going to move the needle? We don’t have enough minds caught within that game?
-
I'm not interested in moving the needle. I'm interested in telling the truth as I see it. And the truth as I see it is, people should be held accountable for their actions. By shifting the blame for human behaviour to underlying causes, you are removing the role of agency.

Isn’t the actual Trump position let’s wait until we know what happened before we react? They did agree to give Saudi gov’t more time to investigate. They are an ally (unlike Syria.

The evidence seems pretty strong, and it's not exactly out of character. The fact that we have been allies of necessity does not justify maintaining the alliance in perpetuity, and the sooner we're capable of extracting ourselves from that entanglement, the better.
