First of all, the word God has always been infinitely more vague and abstract than the word Nazi, so that comparison is a bit of a stretch. Secondly, if you actually listen to Peterson talk on the subject, he isn't changing the definition of the word,-

He's using God the same way it's always been used on a metaphorical level. We all think that God is that spaghetti monster that dumb people believe in for no good reason. But looking at things from a psychological perspective, the concept of God runs a lot deeper than that-

I keep hearing his supporters say that, but none have yet provided convincing examples. Most of us regard "God" as the hypothetical being that created the universe and, at least in theism, presides over it. It would be nice if Peterson used the same definitions as the rest of us.
