Inoculation requires exposure to the virus; isolating oneself in a sterile environment only results in a weak immune system. Likewise, quarantining people from bad ideas weakens society’s immune system. The vaccine to virulent Bannon-style bullshit is not censorship but critique.

That battle was had. Called WWII with over 50M dead. Research shows debating irrational views with facts only strengthens prejudices and causes harm to observers who then think there are 2 sides. You know Drs don't debate anti-vaxxers for this reason?

Not sure how you could conflate right-wing populism with Nazism. Also, research shows a lot of stuff. Like how censorship doesn't stem bad ideas due to the Streisand Effect: https://arxiv.org/pdf/1411.0225.pdf …

For the purposes of the Streisand Effect, it will be perceived as censorship.

The paper you linked to does not support your contention. It talks about high level state censorship of content online. This is not happening with white supremacy online which is quite available and if anything supported by the current US administration.

The Streisand Effect operates the same way at any level of censorship. If you want to know my detailed thoughts on this matter, you can read my article on it here:https://areomagazine.com/2017/10/28/how-not-to-de-radicalize-a-twitter-neo-nazi/ …
