This is good - but I wonder if it has more to do with the high value of overactive threat detection vs the low cost of false positive threats especially in large scale conceptual (virtual) social spaces. The inverse would likely apply to idealization.

Lol, that's an interesting take. My investigate reaction is that I don't think any singular thing caused it, but you may be onto something with much broader applicability. I wonder how boredom affects various human interactions, events, and phenomena.
