That's interesting, I've had the opposite - that people don't like being asked questions because they don't like where it's going & prefer explanations, especially when I try to frame them from their perspective

This is probably because you're better at explaining things than me (I can often be very terse and blunt, so rhetorical questions suit me more). I guess you just have to adapt to your strengths - find the ways in which you excel at bridging minds, and exploit it.
