Pithy, but many on the far-left are no more impossibilist than the liberal philosophers who created the very philosophical coordinates of the present world. Whereas variants of the far-right (from capitalist accelerationists to avant-garde Futurists) are anything but nostalgic.

Do you believe extremism is always something to be shunned? Or do you think that it is occasionally necessary?

I can't think of any situation in which it would be necessary, though if one were at war it could be advantageous, which is probably how the propensity for it evolved in us.

Some of the far left fit in the first category too.. Only difference is they think the "good ol' days" were pre-industrial revolution as opposed to conservatives who think it was the 1950s.
