One could easily make a rationalist case for egalitarianism, although I'll confess, many of my political positions are born of compassion rather than pure rationality.

Rationalism is approached through rigorous awareness of and accounting for one's biases. There is no room in it for excessive confidence in one's faculties. The point is to check one's impulses and prejudices as best as possible, not to give in to them, as is now fashionable.

It's the recognition that reason is imperfect but better than all alternatives. The "haha mere reason" folks implicitly say they have something better. They certainly, definitely, absolutely don't. And as you say, humility and WIP mentality are inherent in actual reason.
