I have seen reports to the effect that the trial was over when he was live streaming. Do you have any information on this?

The trial wasn't over at the time that he began reporting. More details can be found in the transcript.

This is not true. The trial was still in process.

He shouldn’t have been outside that court. But many are angry, and rightly so in my book, to see him being carted off, sentenced and imprisoned within 3 hours when much more serious crimes have gone ignored. Justice is swift when it suits - that’s not right.

Agreed. I don't like seeing him go to jail, and I can understand his anger, and that of his supporters. But it's important to note that interference like his can potentially deny victims justice, against his (and every sane person's) aims.https://twitter.com/nazirafzal/status/1000120175499382784 …

OK, sounds reasonable. But then why did e.g. the BBC get off scott-free for making a big song and dance about Cliff Richard, who it turns out was innocent? Couldn't that have been prejudicial to any future trial, had that investigation resulted in a trial? And so on and so on.

Section 41 of the CJA 1925 doesn't forbid journalists from reporting the known facts of a case.

Yeah. Unfortunately, if the cop really did say this, he's wrong. Section 41 of the CJA states that filming defendants entering or leaving the precincts of the court is illegal. Tommy was also told this at his '17 trial, so it'll be hard to convince a judge that he was just naive.

If they say they apply the law evenly, then I guess we must believe them... This is the problem with hate and prejudice (yes, from regressive left - if you haven't noticed, then its worrying) - all actions can and should be questioned by observers - otherwise we lose democracy.

There are restrictions to free speech. BUT VERY VERY FEW!!! It must be guarded more than almost any other freedom. It will always be the first freedom taken. I believe we are not before the slippery slope, but mid way down, and sliding. Its worth questioning and protesting.
