It’s official now! I’m excited to announce that I just signed a contract to be the next Invertebrate Neurophysiologist in the Biology Dept at College! A big, life-changing decision to leave one TT position for another, but one that our entire family is excited about!

This is fascinating - I read up on the species’ hunting partnership in the comments - but also my brain is yelling “THEY ARE FRIENDS” in a deeply unscientific way.

This is very exciting, and may offer the first objective measure of human olfactory function that is also easily transferable tot the clinic (typical tests currently used rely on self-reporting by the patient of their oof or perceptions).

This addresses in detail long-standing questions about why mammalian ORs refuse to go to the cell surface when expressed heterologously but do so in OSNs. And raises intriguing hypotheses about this being a feature underlying rapid evolution of ORs. Cool!

Just had my first session of the semester with a third grade class in Houston. They came up with such great questions and we talked about the importance of curiosity in science, how reading/writing is critical, and ANTS... always ants!

Fellow entomologists and chemical ecologists, the Gries lab is looking for new pumps to run olfactometer bioassays with! We're having trouble finding a good model, it needs to be relatively quiet and does not need to be super powerful. Please comment your favs!

Does anyone happen to know whose pupae these belong to? Is this common? This was found between two flat outdoor panels on a building in NE. Photos are all I have, no specimens. Trust me, I asked for the panel!

Had some fun with the vinyl cutter today making a new laptop sticker. Yeah, I’m in the MCU... was working on ant communication at Pym Tech before someone blew it all up. 😂

Had a blast with Joanna at the Faculty Colloquium featuring of . Talked about playing with self-assembling molecular Legos to address issues like water purification. Then he gave Joanna the periodic table out of his wallet, thanks Brian!

researchers! required! Generous gave some great leads, but looking for more ideas. Will collect in native terrain, but for system kickoff, would love to have only a few dozen workers-A. sexdens or cephalotes. Ready to go anywhere in the US. Thanks
