“It takes 30secs to order morphine and an MRI but 30mins to (often unsuccessfully) explain why to avoid both” 👌🏼article capturing the commendable yet challenging&thankless job conscientious clinicians do when best practice ≠ patient expectations

A glenohumeral arthrodesis would be most beneficial to a patient with a flail shoulder but intact elbow and hand function. The goal is to position the shoulder so that the hand can reach the patient's mouth for feeding and groin for hygiene. Learn more:

I have concerns that we seem to think we can assess and treat the bio-psycho-social. We are treating people not elements of people and as much as the psychosocial drum is being banged so is the 'we have forgot the bio'. Treat the person. In my opinion... We still don't know s***

One thing that causes burnout in orthopaedic surgeons is thinking that every single thing needs to be treated operatively when really, many things do not.

So many PTs want to avoid the upper trap at all costs. This falsehood of ‘overactivity means avoid strengthening’ contributes to so many cases of neck and shoulder pain to go untreated. We should not be afraid to strengthen any muscle.

Sarcopenia sucks... trust me, frailty is awful. You need to hip hinge and push and pull heavy things. The risk of injury is far less than the risk associated with doing nothing. Muscle Mass, Strength, and Longevity

insurance companies are very vocal about helping with the opioid crisis. But those same companies have a $100 dollar co-pay for a visit of physical therapy, and only $10 for 90 days of opioids. So profits, not patients, are the primary focus

What’s your favorite gov rules/laws that unfairly support insurance: - Docs can’t know what another doctors negotiated rates are. - Docs can’t suggest a certain type of insurance for patients. - Insurance can pay only 30% of bill but it’s illegal to let a self-pay patient pay 30%
