Here’s a (tongue in cheek) tip for predicting whether cases will surge where you live: Has a very high profile expert confidently stated that the place you live has reached “herd immunity”? They have? Run to put on your N95, cuz you can be pretty sure a surge is coming! 😉 1/2

Sweden’s chief epidemiologist said the nation was on its way to herd immunity by May 2020 A GBD author said Britain may have already reached herd immunity in July 2020 A Johns Hopkins professor said “we’ll have herd immunity by April” 2021 All 3 places then had surges. 2/2

Our leader has said we must “learn to live with the virus” and outlawed mask mandates. It’s going to get bad in Iowa.

Read this tweet and thought you might be in BC. Nope. Sigh. It’s going to get needlessly bad in so many places. 😔

If you’re announcing here immunity and you haven’t stopped by the ER to see what your colleagues there are seeing, you’re doing it wrong. Don’t know a single ER doc or nurse who thought this was anywhere near over.

Remember that brief period of a few weeks back in May when health care professionals were expressing relief because there was no one hospitalized with covid? Me neither.
