“There’s no need to worry about all these Covid deaths in US kids, because the ones who die have pre-existing conditions” is a viewpoint that I never thought I’d read during this awful pandemic. Yet here we are. What is happening? How did we get here? I’m so tired of this s**t.

It’s an absolutely ridiculous - and cold-hearted - take. Lacking in all humanity.

Did you know it’s a viewpoint founded on an analysis of exactly 3 COVID-19 deaths?

Dysempathy is what is happening, unfortunately. Decades of far right media telling Americans that only certain deaths and lives matter, that inconvenience is the same as oppression, that f-r-e-e-d-o-m is more important than life and safety.

This has been an issue throughout, only the nursing home residents die, only those with chronic conditions die, only those over age 65 die, only the obese children die. Absolutely gross and horrible.
