It’s time for an update to the mantra “it’s a race between the vaccines and the variants.” The new, updated mantra: It’s a race between “giving 2 vaccine doses to everyone versus the spread of the Delta variant.” 2 doses give SUPERB protection vs Deltahttps://www.ft.com/content/f2ae00ee-e3ae-48b5-853e-49f5cb540321 …

Fortunately the numbers of people with it are pretty small. And I bet it still prevents mort severe disease.

🇪🇺📌 Right Given measures, and exponential growth rates in surveillance in some countries, although at low incidents, the risk in North-West Europe is huuugh. Adding travel and tourisme, incl schools reopenings it is a recipee for failure. Be aware FT is comparable with WSJ.

2 doses do not give me SUPERB protection. I take Tacrolimus twice a day to depress my immune system. I don't want to encounter the Delta variant, thank you.

if it was that common, they wouldn't be looking under a sofa for it, this particular health region has zero cases at hospital, and they're having very little luck finding it in the community, that doesn't look like it's displacing B.1.1.7 https://www.publichealth.hscni.net/news/pha-update-kilkeel-testing …

It’s even better than that: it’s brilliant news. By my calcs, Hancock’s statistic (10% of people in hospital have had 2 doses of vaccine) implies the vaccine is having at least a 95% protective effect – and probably more like 98%, or maybe even higher. Let me explain… 1/n https://twitter.com/BristOliver/status/1397868946234167297 …
