WSJ opinion is kind of a toxic cesspit

It really is. A lot of the WSJ’s science & public health reporting is superb, & I often wonder what their terrific science/health reporters think when they see the BS on the opinion pages.

Y’all have trouble with the math on pre ex exposure and those already infected don’t you G?
-
We had about 60,000 new cases and 900 deaths in the US yesterday. Wow, THAT’s your vision of herd immunity. Gosh and golly.

...and yet, have any of these folks, GBD included, ever apologised or even so much as acknowledged that they've got it completely wrong? Yes, science changes, but spurious baseless claims used to justify libertarian ignorance causes actual harm, not the same.
-
I wish the folks who made grand predictions that turned out wrong & those who pushed hard for “herd immunity from natural infection” (eg the GBD authors) would say: “We were wrong, but now we’d like to roll up our sleeves & help pandemic control efforts. What can we do to help?”
