Reported statistics often group AAPI populations, but recent studies have shown that cancer affects each group differently when broken down by country of origin. Cambodian, Hmong, Korean & Vietnamese women are more affected by HPV than other groups. #AAPIHeritageMonth

Cervical cancer starts in the cells of the cervix, the lower, narrow end of the uterus, and usually develops slowly over time. Early stages often have no signs, so getting screened regularly is essential to help prevent advanced-stage diagnosis. #NationalCancerControlMonth

HPV often comes with negative stigmas that invoke shame, fear, and embarrassment. Indeed, the contraction of HPV can sometimes lead to certain cancers, but it is untrue that it always happens due to promiscuity or that it comes from a failure to get screened.
