This story reminds me of my fave piece of hatemail, in which I was accused of being part of a socialist homosexual Muslim attack on America.

At the time (maybe 8-9 years ago), I was like "Wow, that is the opposite of a real thing, but it sounds fabulous." Now it's a real thing.

Only it isn't an attack on America; it's more like a passionate defense.

And it was made real in no small part thanks to the bigotries evident in that piece of hate mail. They created the very thing they feared.
