Put it simply, every eligible struggling renter that applied to the CA rent relief program and was engaged to complete an application WILL be paid. There is a lot of misinformation out there based on raw, incomplete, or misunderstood data on these applications.

The CA Statewide Housing Plan has 3 objectives to ensure everyone has a safe, stable, and affordable home. Objective 1 is to keep Californians in their homes. Actions to do this include preventing evictions and supporting renters facing eviction, supporting homeowners facing foreclosure, preserving subsidized affordable homes, and preserving non-subsidized affordable homes and keeping existing tenants in their housing.

The US’s housing greenhouse gas emissions are equivalent to the 6th largest emitter on earth. In CA we are moving policy that gradually reverses this trend. We must do it in a way that doesn’t penalize people that have been victims of environm. injustice and unfair housing policy
