    It’s a shame to see field biology and natural history decline in prominence at universities. I don’t have much profound to say about this trend other than that we know very little about the world around us, we are in the midst of a biodiversity crisis, and this isn’t helping.

    A sampling of the found in north GA this weekend. The salamander diversity in the southern Appalachians is incredible. We found 15 species in two days.

    As a LatinX member of the faculty, I’m saddened and embarrassed by this event. I’m also disappointed by the lack of immediate response by the higher administration. My sincere apologies to for having to experience this in our campus.

    This gem is the magnificent cockroach. 💎 There are more than 4,500 cockroach species. They're an ancient group that date back 320 million years ago.
