Brexit is now a daily, snowballing list of costs, disadvantages, limitations, idiocies, humiliations, inconveniences and lies. So far, there has not been *one* practical, everyday, noticeable benefit. As projects go, it simply can’t get much more dishonest… or batshit insane.

Very disappointed that Covid-19 is caving to cancel culture by refusing to be cured by horse goo.

Two of the four long-term tenants of a century-old housing complex in a desirable beachside neighbourhood in Vancouver have been told they can stay in their homes after the tenants alleged they were being 'renovicted' by real estate firm Avala Equities.

    Replying to and

This bit from 's 2012 review of 's 'Distrust That Particular Flavor' is hinting at the same thing (2020 was 8 years in future when was written). As a design educator I've found this so useful to bring home "not evenly distributed"

"Cars lumbered past like ponderous elephants of rusty steel, not so different from the cars of 30 years ago, and seemed not to belong in the same world as the tattooed kid punching code into his laptop nearby. Under the spell of this book, I suddenly understood my surroundings not as a discrete contemporary tableau but as a hodgepodge of 1910, 1980, 2011 and 2020." Pagan Kennedy, 2012

No—these are not haunted houses in need of an exorcism. Rather, 'ghost houses', or akiya, are abandoned homes that towns cannot get rid of through demolition or resale.

One thing that always felt true/right to me about the future in 's Neuromancer was the idea that the richest people would be impossibly old, their lives extended by technology. That they wouldn't be 100% human, or tethered by human morality also seems right.
