My son is a Veteran of the United States Army. He went to the #VA in Salt Lake City yesterday. This was the condition of the room he was seen in. Very unprofessional, unsanitary and disrespectful. Please retweet. Maybe
.update #VA is going to “review policies”. Says “sometimes medicine is messy.” Casts for diabetic vets done in this room. Not acceptable conditions for anyone. Just clean up between patients! Garbage on the counter, no place to wash hands, instruments not cleaned. #Yuck
Do they teach nurses what they used to? If so, no nurse would do this. Not a good one. You always clean the room up before bringing a new patient in there. Disgusting!
There is NO excuse for this! And someone(s) MUST BE held accountable. If staffing is short (which it normally is), then get more staff! Housekeeping could of at least emptied the trash....something. Where is the team work?
If they need a policy to keep patient areas clean they've achieved peak bureaucracy.
They effed up. This is not about policy. This is about standards and procedures.
I'm an ER nurse and cleaning between patients has been the protocol since Florence Nightingale. Literally. That is shameful! Infection rates increase when staff doesn't clean properly between patients. Your son and all of our vets deserve better.
