Defunding doesn’t mean ending protecting the public, it means limiting enforcement functions. Police shouldn’t be responding for mental health crisis or school discipline, homelessness. This is an opportunity to rethink & transform.

Time to rethink. 200 years ago we just had doctors. No specialists. No cardiologist, no neurologist. We can better serve public safety with a similar model. Much of the current “work” of police can be shifted to social services & specialists.
