Sickening that top bosses earn 133 times more than a worker earning the average UK wage. It's time to narrow the pay gap 👇💰#FatCatFridaypic.twitter.com/mIkBGnSGOA

How does that equate to the working wage and the minimum wage?

Minimum wage currently at £7.83 based on a full time 49 hour week works out as £16,286.40p per year. The real living wage as worked out by the RLW foundation is £9ph. So based on the same calculations that’s £18,720 per year (before tax).

The average wage of 539 per week (net) is the biggest lie going. I agree 18k is actually a better indicator of average wage. Most jobs are 37-40 hr weekly, so unsure how it can be 49 hour weekly. To work out a true average you need a different way of measuring it

But average your wage out against corporate fat cats and useless MPs and apparently the average is high. No one in reality sees this though...

That's what I thought. It does seem to be £18k pa or £85k+ with not a great deal in between.

That's my point, the fact that that higher wages conceals the lower wages and uplifts the average wage. My opinion is at least 50% of the country are on wages between 15k-20k pa . Why aren't think tanks giving the attention it deserves? Exposing it? Exploitation is rampant.

Same goes for the top Union bosses as well! What do the Chiefs of the GMB, RMT etc earn annually? 🤔

There are 1 million firms in the UK. You selectively use average pay from 1% of 1% of them. Which gets a great headline but does much damage to #SMEs and to #entrepreneurship. The FTSE100 is like the #PremierLeague - awash with excessive pay, but it doesn't mean all sport is bad.

Actually if the boss wasn’t there it would most probably take the average worker and eternity to earn the same because the company wouldn’t be there. I’m not suggesting some salaries are not obscene but to suggest bosses should earl kess and employees more is just bloody stupid

It's also sickening that the top of the GMB union are paid more than Theresa May or Jeremy Corbyn and that one of them has been suspended for ballot rigging!

Again, what the GMB should do as an example is set up a business, make it successful, make money, employing hundreds of workers and pay them well above the going rate for whatever job they do but pay the Directors an average of the “workers”. Go on show us how it’s done 👍🏼

@jeremycorbyn earns 5 times more than an average worker and he has stated that he does not class himself as wealthy. For only working 148 days a year, if he doesn’t go home early to watch tv.
