If your YouTube video gets demonetized YouTube does not promote it in recommend. Meaning your YouTube video & channel can’t grow. It’s not just “money” it’s about making content that gets seen.https://twitter.com/KoolieisKool/status/1121816303231066112 …

Just wanted to clarify that our recommendations and search & discovery systems do not look at a video’s monetization status. So a yellow icon wouldn't limit a video in recommendations. More details about this here: https://yt.be/help/i2EY

So essentially, if your video gets demonetized, it's just a sign saying it will be most likely not be recommended. Correlation /= Causation

Correlation /= causation is a great way to think about it actually. If the video has mature content then it may not be widely recommended across all audiences. Separately, it may have a yellow icon for a similar reason. But demonetized videos can be widely recommended too!

|@YouTube back in the day ACTUALLY had mature content by early YouTubers who were in there Teen years and early 20's and they got recommend frequently. Nowadays, it's supposed to be Advertiser friendly? PLEASE, you're just trying to separate us from freedom of speech. Adverts....pic.twitter.com/TX5LawZ60w
