The worst part about retrocomputing is, after you’ve tracked down all the rare vintage components, found and fixed all the electronic issues, cleaned up the chassis, and gotten the thing to boot, you have to actually use an old computer

An old laptop I can see still being useful as a typewriter sort of thing for disconnected writing and thinking. Anything with CRTs or fans in it though, not worth it

Ah HyperCard, Bill Atkinson's glorious creation. One of the first truly friendly coding environments designed for a GUI. But where do you think those games you mention came from? In 1988 my partner and I coded an entire object oriented game world in 6502 Macro Assembly.
