Makes sense, games like Among Us and Team Fortress 2 both find their charm from their outdated artstyle and age.

If you’re in your late 20’s it takes you back to badly drawn lazy memes and newgrounds. Definitely doesn’t need to be upgraded too much. Just work on some content.

If anything just update the game within the game. Give it new graphics, add rooms. Don’t make a whole new game! The game is perfect the way it is.

Sounds like severe misconceptions here. The "codebase" is not the art style or graphical upgrades. It's the foundational underpinnings of the code, the framework, and the flexibility of the architecture. You can slap a coat of paint or a veneer on rickety code. You can't easily

build new functionality onto bad architecture without compromises and instability. This might be the right short-term answer for monetization. But it will limit what can be done while keeping the code stable. Don't mistake "we're holding off on a new codebase" with "we'll just
