Sapir is bringing up this study that showed the majority of trans youth persisted in that identity after 5 years. He is arguing that all of these youth had socially transitioned, and therefore had locked them into being transgender. dallasnews.com/news/2022/05/0 #txlege #LGBTQ

Don't overlook this, it's a big deal: Michigan Dems are passing pro-labor *and* pro-LGBTQ/abortion bills. They're explicitly casting this as a pro-worker agenda, economically *and* culturally. This is the blue state answer to red state culture war madness: washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/

He signed the law that enables those parents--the accountability should be on him. But the enforcement mechanism of the law means he's now invited a nonstop stream of headlines about the stories of Rosa Parks or Ruby Bridges being banned and there's nothing he can do about it.

If it's like any other technological shift AI will increase overall productivity while helping to justify continued wage stagnation. You'll still have a job and you're boss will get richer.

In practice I've found it's utterly impossible to get most people to think about the impact of AI on the labor market in terms of replacing TASKS instead of replacing JOBS. But goddammit, I'm going to keep trying anyway. noahpinion.substack.com/p/will-ai-take

I truly do hope all of the men in these photos get the help they are ready and willing to accept. I know folks are calling for him to be censured as well, but there is a stark difference between me and all of the men in these photos. I did not commit a crime. 1/12

The news in my space has become a series of disappointments and defeats, and eternally thankful for the reminder to be not only hopeful but ambitious
Quote Tweet
I'm struck by how routinely people don't want to do anything whose successful outcome is not guaranteed when it comes to big stuff like climate. (Imagine if people played games that way. But also imagine the dismalness of history if everyone was that way.)🧵
