I guess what amazes me is how fucking entrenched this shitty cliquish defensive culture is, like as soon as it becomes a "UK vs. US" thing the so-called "feminism" flies right out the window

Amazing how complex and circuitous yet utterly predictable the unique British logical apparatus is that finds a justification for how the ideal system for doing anything turns out to be the way the UK currently does it No matter how fucking pants-on-head silly it is

Yes yes there's a GOOD REASON we have to have a hereditary monarchy that theoretically invests all state sovereignty in one random inbred dipshit but then devolves all that power into a quasi-representative democracy through an immense litany of stupid fucking traditions

It's like the GOOD REASON that barristers and solicitors have to be two different sets of jobs because barristers are the only ones willing to wear the silly fucking wig

And the GOOD REASON to have two entirely separate faucets for hot water and cold water so the actual stream of water is always scalding or freezing And the GOOD REASON to put a "u" in the words "neighbor" and "color" and "honour" but not "tailor", "donor", "debtor" or "horror"

It's because it's a system that evolved through a Darwinian process over time and therefore *natural selection* created a system that *lasts* because it *realistically confronts the world as it is* and isn't a pie-in-the-sky construct of would-be intelligent designers etc Ugh

I mean yes Americans are just as bad with their dumb shit about how the Constitution, a document that, no matter how you try to interpret it, is manifestly *too fucking old* to make *any sense* today, is somehow eternally perfect

But y'know I don't hang out around those people and I generally don't think of them as "on the left" And maybe it's just my own chauvinism talking but it still doesn't strike me as obviously bullshit in the way the defense of the monarchy and House of Lords is

Like shit Japan still has an Emperor and the imperial family, sure But that's it, it's one guy They abolished the peerage in 1947, they don't still have a WHOLE CLASS of bluebloods who are special and better than you because they "rule" their house and the fields around it

Plus like te emperor of Japan is explicitly *just* a figure head under the post-war constitution. The queen of England is still nominally the chief executive who conventionally yields power to the prime minister but could in theory still choose to act as the executive

Replying to @GALaBonty @arthur_affect
A figure head that was su posed to serve for life/ had constitution crisis when he decide to just quit. Because that was just not real option in the constitution. So the goverment just went in one hand we are in charge and if we want to he has to but he is the Emperor. So shrug
