Be sure to signal your movements when you need to change road position to avoid something and don't swerve dramatically. If you're riding in a group, announce the presence of debris to keep everyone safe. And, of course, remain observant and aware at all times.

There's always the chance that your ride will be interrupted by (sometimes manmade) debris in your path. Severe weather this week means even more potential for limbs, leaves, and other obstacles on the road, path, or trail.

The long weekend means lots of extra time on your bike! Remember: many local bike shops will be closed for Labor Day on Monday, so be sure to stock up before heading out for those extra miles. Safe roads and happy trails this Labor Day weekend!

When you park your bike, make sure that you do the following: - Lock it in a public place, choose a location that is busy and well-lit. - Choose a sturdy immovable object to secure the bike to, ideally a fit-for-purpose cycle stand/rack parking.
