Fucking German home automation forums. Somebody asks: "If I do this, is it legal?" The first guy who answers is ALWAYS the "You need to be a licensed electrician!!1!cos(0)"-dick. For fuck's sake, I'm not stupid and I can have inspection and approval of my work done afterwards!

It is named vcio though, so why does it show up as char_dev?

The Raspberry Pi has a device node called /dev/char_dev. This is the interface to the GPU Mailbox. Who copied an example driver and never changed the device node name? The style fits the whole project though...

Sometimes reverse engineering is a bit unsatisfying. Sure, it's cool to tear stuff apart and figure out how things are built, but does it matter? You didn't actually build anything meaningful that has value. You just figured out how something somebody else built works.

All these conspiracy theories about the Corona virus are so entertaining. They range from "big pharma patented it to make money with vaccines" over "cell phone radiation caused it" to "it broke out of a lab" and "Bill gates is behind it to personally profit from it".

Gnarghl. Arch Linux users! My gnuradio stack breaks every other week. Some random component in the whole library stack gets updated and then I encounter unresolvable symbols or undefined references while updating. How do you rebuild the whole stack automatically in this case?

Saw a real i30N Fastback standing in a parking lot at the supermarket. Hnnngggg! It's either that one or the upcoming facelift of the non-fastback.

Got a capture card to have HDMI input for all the embedded devices I have on my desk. The only problem is, I need input as well. I think I should build a USB device which forwards keyboard and mouse inputs from the capture window to the captured device.

I was getting tired. Now I'm getting pushed by 's recent techno mix. Boy, that thing has some driving force.

You can be a Nazi in Germany, no problem - you might even get elected into the German parliament, but NEVER fuck with the tax authorities. They are merciless.

The FreeNAS 11.3 webinterface enhancements are pretty nice.

One of my PLCs now does MQTT. It's Industry 4.0 now. Not sure if want. (Also it just occured to me, that Industry 4.0 sounds and also actually *is* a typical German bullshit buzzword - don't know why, it just aligns with general Germanness)

Recently somebody whined about "clever code" and bit magic. I just wrote this code for the second time in a week. 🤷‍♂️

I find myself gaming more and more on Linux. 10 years ago that would've been unthinkable of. The binary nVidia drivers and Valve's Proton just works so good. I am able to play Witcher 3 in 4K with ultra details using a compat layer which rebuilds most of the Windows API. 🤯
