The Lancashire purple heron from yesterdays outing. This juvenile bird is still sawing exceptionally well 2.5miles south east of Pilling at England Hill on the corner near Brick Farm

Little egret in the shallows of Fairhaven Lake, lots of them around the estuary, often roosting in the island trees in the evening or at high tide

The resident Barn Owls at Eagland Hill are usually the star attraction for birders and photographers visiting the area, but our semi-resident Purple Heron is currently stealing their limelight, over a month in-situ now around it's favoured dyke!

Third time lucky for the four Snow Buntings at Fleetwood, perhaps previous visits on a Saturday didn't present the best chance of success .

Birding this weekend? Remember it's the International Swan Census, do keep an eye open for any Whooper or Bewick's Swan flocks & report these to us at - every record counts & helps us to continue monitoring our wintering swan populations.

Another drive by the Juv Purple Heron site in Lancs resulted in a trip to the coast instead due to it being packed again. Luckily I was treated to a very obliging Little Egret at Knott End. @RSPB_N_England

The Eagland Hill Purple Heron decided to put in an appearance after a quick downpour had sent it hiding in a ditch before I got there.

The two Purple Sandpipers roosting up on the old boating pool wall on a dark dank January morning so ISO I-didn't-know-it-could-go-that-high! No sign of the Snow Bunting that's been seen on the cliffs recently today.
