One less GOP state senator in NC for the next year might be more useful for Dems than one less Republican in a House where there’s not much of a stake for the next year. If there’s a vote where the Blue Dogs went against Pelosi it’s likely McCready would be one of those Blue Dogs
Except it'll be a Republican replacing him as an appointee. But hey, with fair lines in place we're looking forward to beating him in 2020

Technically he does but he appoints the person named by the local party that held the vacated seat (so the Mecklenburg GOP in this case)
