Proud to have been in AZ in ‘18 to flip 4 state house seats. After record turnout, the Republican majority in the Statehouse has raised the specter of election fraud & proposed a set of bills to tighten rules for registering to vote & for casting ballots. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/03/us/voting-rights-states.html …
This suppression is happening all over the country. But there are bright spots too. In NH, where we worked to flip the state senate, the New Democratic majority has worked to undo stiff barriers to voting by college students from out of state.

And in North Carolina, where we helped flip 12 seats to break a GOP supermajority, “the Republican legislature abandoned an effort to impose rules that would render many student IDs useless at polling places.” That is because of those flipped seats in Raleigh.

Back to AZ, where a bill that would purge voters from a list of mail-in ballot recipients if they failed to vote in 2 election cycles would’ve halted the distribution of nearly 240k mail-in ballots to this year. It died in the state House (where those 4 flips happened in Nov).

State legislatures matter. They decide who can vote, and when, and where, and how. Eyes on the reps in your state capitol. There are battles waging there that determine the preservation of democracy. Which is why we fight. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/03/us/voting-rights-states.html …
