Because flips in the #Michigan House bring more balance to the chamber, & because of the voices of the people, current reps must compromise. This is one more way that state legislatures are on the front lines battling anti-democratic maneuvers and policies. #WhyStatesMatter
#Wisconsin was a different story — the GOP has a lock on their majorities in both the state house and state senate, even as the people elected a Democratic Governor. That means that the legislature felt empowered to be bolder in the #lameduck moment.

#Wisconsin has passed laws to curtail new Dem Gov @Tony4WI's power to guide economic development, halt litigation on the state’s behalf & make administrative rules. They also limited the state AG's power. All while they still have GOP Gov Scott Walker's signature on their side.
The difference between #Michigan and #Wisconsin, and what has happened in their #lameduck sessions, is that one state has elected a more balanced legislature, and one has not. Michigan still did some bad things but they had to curtail their boldest moves. #Wisconsin plowed ahead.
